Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Niko Puhkuri (ranked 2747 p4p, 317 weight class) and Wagner Resende (ranked 3186 p4p, 353 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Wagner Resende enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puhkuri blocks a head kick by Resende.
Puhkuri uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Resende.

Resende shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Puhkuri's guard.

Puhkuri is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Resende presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Puhkuri has picked Resende up - he's going for a ride! Puhkuri dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Resende told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Resende is pressing down on Puhkuri's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Puhkuri knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Resende on the ground.
Resende is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Resende has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Puhkuri doesn't defend quickly enough and Resende has managed to lock this one up! Can Puhkuri escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Resende on a fantastic submission victory.
