The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dowda misses with a wild combination.
Mccviety tries to close the distance and clinch but Dowda swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dowda swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mccviety shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dowda as he jumps to the side.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mccviety.
Dowda tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dowda defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Mccviety's arms.

Mccviety tries to keep control of the position but Dowda is staying busy.

Mccviety is really struggling to control Dowda but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Danny Mccviety just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Dowda swinging wilding here.
Mccviety throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dowda closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Dowda swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Mccviety shoots in and bounces Dowda off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Mccviety wants to free his trapped foot but Dowda is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mccviety tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dowda swivels and escapes.

It looks like Danny Mccviety has been cut.
Mccviety closes the distance and clinches up with Dowda, looking for a takedown. Mccviety pushes Dowda against the cage but Dowda circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Mccviety. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mccviety shoots in but Dowda avoids the takedown attempt easily.
No joy there for Dowda, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Dowda lands a jab-cross combination.
Dowda Rushes Mccviety and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Mccviety is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Dowda Piles on the pressure and Mccviety crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
