PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tod Rivas (ranked 25339 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy Krueger (ranked 5665 p4p, 541 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tod Rivas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Freddy Krueger!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivas moves out of range as Krueger strikes.
Krueger fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rivas looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Krueger lands the left hand.
Krueger tries to close the distance and clinch but Rivas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Rivas drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Krueger is trying to control the position but Rivas postures up.
Rivas stops Krueger from standing up.

Rivas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Rivas is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Krueger is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rivas.

Rivas fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Krueger sprawls well initially but Rivas persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Krueger wants to control but Rivas is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Krueger wants to get back to full guard.
Rivas content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Rivas's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Krueger gets back to full guard.
Krueger is looking to sweep but instead, Rivas has passed into half guard.

Rivas takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Rivas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Rivas postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Krueger looks a forlorn figure.

Krueger tries to hold on but Rivas postures up.

Krueger is trying desperately to improve position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rivas is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Krueger can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tod Rivas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rivas takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Krueger lands a brutal uppercut that launches Rivas off his feet! Rivas tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Freddy Krueger!
In his post fight interview, Freddy Krueger started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
