PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bennett Kent (ranked 24894 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Gabos (ranked 5956 p4p, 664 weight class). Gabos comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Game kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Bennett Kent has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Bennett Kent seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Bennett Kent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Pete Gabos!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kent dodges the punch combination from Gabos.
Gabos throws a head kick that misses
letting Kent counter with a right hand.
Kent could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kent enables Gabos to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kent manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gabos accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kent is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gabos is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gabos stands up from Kent's guard - Gabos perhaps looking for a knockout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gabos throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Kent counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Gabos rushes Kent and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Kent can't break the clinch.

Gabos jumps guard.
Kent trying to stand up but can't free himself from Gabos's guard.
Kent's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Kent knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gabos on the ground.
Gabos is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gabos not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kent is looking for a sweep. Gabos is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Gabos tries to pass to full mount but Kent defends it.
Kent controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Gabos thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kent's head.
Kent blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gabos.
Gabos passes the guard and advances to mount!

Gabos working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kent is trying to control the position here but Gabos swings around for an armbar and he's got it! This one is all over, courtesy of a slick submission by Gabos!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Pete Gabos!
A relieved looking Pete Gabos thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
