PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Bloggs (ranked 5897 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Rodley (ranked 6001 p4p, 0 weight class). Bloggs comes to the cage accompanied by The Ramones - Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Rodley!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bloggs lands a left and a right that send Rodley crashing to the mat, dazed. Bloggs thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Rodley is rocked!


It looks like Kevin Rodley has been cut.
Bloggs displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rodley.
Rodley is still on wobbly legs! Can Bloggs finish him?

Rodley tries to keep at a distance but Bloggs has taken the fight into the clinch.
Rodley seems to have recovered his senses.
Rodley is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Bloggs breaks the clinch.

Bloggs closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bloggs breaks from the clinch.
Rodley fails with a takedown attempt.
Rodley is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bloggs sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Joe Bloggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Rodley.

Bloggs has closed the distance and engaged Rodley in a clinch.
Bloggs taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Bloggs's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bloggs throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rodley.
Rodley shoots in but no luck this time.
Joe Bloggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bloggs tries to avoid it but Rodley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bloggs to the ground. Bloggs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bloggs shoots for a double leg takedown but Rodley sprawls well. He's pushed Bloggs's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Bloggs avoids the head kick by Rodley.
Rodley blocks a low kick nicely.
Rodley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

It seemed like Rodley was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Rodley takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Rodley looks winded!

Bloggs rushes Rodley and presses him up against the cage.

Bloggs pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Bloggs pushes Rodley up against the cage in a clinch.

Bloggs escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bloggs misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bloggs throws a head kick that misses.

Rodley tries to keep at a distance but Bloggs has taken the fight into the clinch.

Bloggs breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bloggs misses with a few strikes there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rodley shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bloggs defends it nicely.
Bloggs scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Rodley slips a jab and a cross from Bloggs.
A bone on bone clash there as Bloggs blocks the leg kick.
Rodley keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Bloggs pushes Rodley up against the cage in a clinch.

Bloggs pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Bloggs darts in and clinches Rodley up against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bloggs lands an uppercut.
Rodley tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Bloggs's elbow.

Bloggs's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Bloggs darts in and clinches Rodley up against the cage.

Bloggs breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Bloggs closes the distance and clinches.

Bloggs's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bloggs lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rodley dives in and grabs Bloggs's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bloggs pushes down on Rodley's head and hops out.
Bloggs scores with a one two! Rodley had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Bloggs wobbles Rodley with a right hand and the left hook that follows puts him on his rear! Bloggs dives in with a huge flying punch that connects right on the button and puts Rodley to sleep! - What a violent and spectacular finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Joe Bloggs!
