Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Raul Odonnell (ranked 25082 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Kapp (ranked 5879 p4p, 0 weight class). Raul Odonnell has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Raul Odonnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alex Kapp!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Kapp looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
An attempted straight right counter from Odonnell misses the target.
Alex Kapp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kapp scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Kapp closes the distance but Odonnell moves to the side

and Odonnell counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Odonnell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Odonnell is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Kapp still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Kapp has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Odonnell manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Kapp is trying to control but can't.

Odonnell is working for a submission of some sort.
Odonnell tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Kapp.
Kapp wants to get back to his feet.

Odonnell wants to work for an arm triangle but Kapp is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kapp moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kapp controls Odonnell momentarily but Odonnell frees himself.
Odonnell missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kapp tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Odonnell lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kapp is trying to control the position but Odonnell postures up.
Kapp looking to hit a scissor sweep but Odonnell is one step ahead there.

Odonnell is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Kapp looking for a sweep. Not yet Kapp, not yet.
Kapp is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Odonnell is controlling him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Kapp closes the distance and pushes Odonnell back into the cage.
Kapp wants to get back to striking at distance but Odonnell won't allow it.

Odonnell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Odonnell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kapp lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Odonnell throws a head kick that misses.
Odonnell throws a hook but Kapp avoids it easily.

Odonnell shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Odonnell showed some decent athleticism there.
Kapp controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Odonnell moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Kapp.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Odonnell thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Raul Odonnell will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Odonnell misses with a takedown attempt - Kapp sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kapp lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Odonnell enables Kapp to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Odonnell manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Kapp wants to control from the top but Odonnell keeps moving.

Odonnell controls Kapp momentarily but Kapp frees himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Odonnell has his foot on Kapp's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kapp works his way back into a safe position though.

Odonnell is pulling down on Kapp's head to control his posture.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Odonnell gets caught flat footed, as Kapp shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Odonnell preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Odonnell pulls Kapp in close to prevent any damage.
Kapp throws a big elbow that misses.

Kapp trying to control but Odonnell is working from the bottom.
Kapp sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Odonnell is trying to control the position but Kapp postures up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kapp throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Odonnell swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Kapp scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Kapp wants to control but Odonnell is keeping him busy.
Kapp sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Odonnell is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Kapp decides to stand back up. Kapp steps back and let's Odonnell get back to his feet.

Kapp shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kapp was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Kapp tries to move to mount but Odonnell blocks the move with his legs.
Kapp is breathing heavily.
Odonnell is trying to control Kapp's posture but Kapp avoids it.

Odonnell is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Odonnell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kapp tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Kapp trying to control the action but Odonnell is working from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Odonnell can't do much from the bottom here.

Alex Kapp showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kapp throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Odonnell was covering up waiting for the punch and Kapp finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Odonnell wants to sweep but no luck.
Odonnell is adopting a defensive guard.
Kapp slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Kapp passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Odonnell tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Kapp easily slips into full mount!
Odonnell is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Kapp wants to take Odonnell's back here but Odonnell is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Kapp has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Odonnell prevents any damage by holding on tight.
Odonnell tries to lock up and control but Kapp gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Odonnell holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Kapp tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Kapp controlling the pace for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Alex Kapp comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kapp has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
