PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Assan Karim Chorr (ranked 25392 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Perez Saavedra (ranked 3002 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Assan Karim Chorr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luis Perez Saavedra!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chorr changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Saavedra tries to avoid it but Chorr manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Saavedra to the ground. Saavedra escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Chorr shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Saavedra pinned against the cage. Saavedra gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Saavedra rushes Chorr and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Chorr has Saavedra pushed against the cage.
Saavedra tries a body shot but Chorr blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chorr fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Assan Karim Chorr. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chorr jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Saavedra walks away with a smile on his face. Chorr gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Nice sprawl there from Chorr as Saavedra shoots in.
Saavedra pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Chorr moves to clinch but Saavedra breaks away

and Saavedra counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Chorr is looking to stand back up but Saavedra counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Chorr.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chorr moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chorr is wriggling around but Saavedra manages to pass to half guard.

Saavedra is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Chorr wants to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Saavedra content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Chorr is looking to improve his position.
Saavedra not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Chorr on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Saavedra is controlling the pace.
Saavedra missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Chorr is in trouble now - Saavedra has advanced to mount!
Saavedra fails to advance to Chorr's back.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Chorr prevents any damage by holding on tight.
Saavedra controlling the pace for now.
Saavedra is looking to stand but Chorr has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Chorr sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Saavedra is looking to advance position but Chorr won't allow it.
Saavedra is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luis Perez Saavedra dominated that round.
That's time! Chorr's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Saavedra has closed the distance and engaged Chorr in a clinch.
Saavedra gets underhooks to prevent Chorr's takedown attempt.
Chorr wants to break free but Saavedra has control.

Saavedra jumps into guard, dragging Chorr to the mat.
Chorr preventing the sweep.
Chorr stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Saavedra swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Saavedra wants to stand up but Chorr is controlling him.

Chorr passes Saavedra's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Saavedra is looking to improve his position.

Saavedra pushes Chorr off looking to stand but Chorr dives back in and keeps control.
Chorr tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Saavedra wants to get back to his feet.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Chorr thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Saavedra works his way to full guard. Good work.
Chorr controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Saavedra pulls Chorr in to control the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Chorr fails with the takedown
and Saavedra cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Chorr dives in and grabs Saavedra's left leg, looking for a takedown. Saavedra pushes down on Chorr's head and hops out.

Saavedra shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Chorr as he avoids it easily.
Chorr shoots in for a takedown but Saavedra shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Saavedra circles away from the clinch attempt.
A countering left hand to the body from Saavedra misses.
Chorr takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Saavedra closes the distance and pushes Chorr back into the cage.
Chorr stalling in the clinch but Saavedra improves position.
Chorr fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Saavedra is working for takedown but Chorr is calmly controlling the position for now.
The referee is keeping an eye on Chorr - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Chorr tries to circle away but Saavedra has him pinned against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Saavedra gets underhooks to prevent Chorr's takedown attempt.
Chorr tries to pull guard but Saavedra won't allow it.
Saavedra managing to block the knees to the body from Chorr.
Chorr tries to pull guard but Saavedra won't allow it.
Chorr drops down looking for an ankle pick but Saavedra pulls his leg out and moves away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Saavedra gets a clinch.
Saavedra tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Chorr avoids it.
Chorr tries to pull guard but Saavedra won't allow it.

Saavedra breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Saavedra closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Saavedra lands in his opponent's guard.

Saavedra trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Chorr looking to control.

Saavedra working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Chorr can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Saavedra controls the pace.

Luis Perez Saavedra showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Chorr tries to clinch up but Saavedra circles away and keeps his distance.
Chorr fails with a takedown attempt.

Saavedra closes the distance and pushes Chorr back into the cage.
Saavedra has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Chorr after a bit of a struggle.

Saavedra pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Saavedra keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Saavedra looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Chorr fails to pull guard.

Chorr has hold of Saavedra's hands but Saavedra slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Saavedra is continuing to stall.
Saavedra missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Saavedra is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Saavedra not doing much here.
Saavedra tries to stand and escape but Chorr is controlling the position.
Chorr is trying to control but Saavedra passes into side control!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chorr tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Saavedra wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee asks Saavedra politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Saavedra prefers to stall for the moment though.
Chorr is not content to let Saavedra control the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Chorr fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Saavedra avoids it really well and circles away.

Saavedra fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Assan Karim Chorr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Luis Perez Saavedra is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Chorr misses with a combination
and Saavedra counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Luis Perez Saavedra comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Saavedra has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
