PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tim Pierno (ranked 763 p4p, 96 weight class) and Robin Yount (ranked 956 p4p, 112 weight class). Pierno comes to the cage accompanied by Sick Puppies - You're Going Down . Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 21 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tim Pierno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 23 - 1, fighting out of New York, Robin Yount!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierno works Yount's body with a nice hook.
Pierno cracks Yount with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Pierno takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Pierno takes the fight into the clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Yount.

Pierno has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Yount uses from the top position.
Pierno can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Yount controls the pace.
Yount is continuing to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pierno is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Yount not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Pierno has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Yount has passed into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Pierno is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Rabid Dog , so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Yount is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Yount is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Yount content to control rather than advance.
Pierno might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Yount wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pierno keeps working.
Pierno is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Pierno moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pierno is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pierno wants to sweep but no luck.
Yount trying to control the position from guard on top but Pierno is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Good leg kick by Yount there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Yount misses with a wild body shot.
An inside leg kick from Yount misses.
Yount takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Yount throws a leg kick but Pierno sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Pierno misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Yount.

Pierno uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Yount.
Yount throws a solid leg kick but Pierno takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Yount.
Yount lands a body shot.
Pierno misses with a wild body shot.
Yount tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pierno lands with a right hand.
Pierno takes a head kick and keeps coming.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pierno misses with a few strikes there.
Pierno lands with an overhand left.
Yount steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pierno.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pierno throws a looping overhand right but Yount ducks down to avoid it.
Yount throws a body punch but Pierno moves out of range.
Pierno stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Yount slips under a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Pierno dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Pierno displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Yount throws out the jab.
Yount gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Pierno throws a hook but Yount blocks it.
Yount works the jab nicely.
Yount misses with a double jab.
Yount thows a left - swing and a miss!
Pierno throws an off balance right hand
and Yount counters with an inside leg kick.
Pierno on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Yount walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Pierno checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Pierno avoids the head kick by Yount.
Pierno scores with a crisp jab that stopped Yount in his tracks.
Pierno has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Pierno bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Yount's head backwards.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pierno tries to clinch but Yount moves out of range.
Pierno tries to clinch up but Yount circles away and keeps his distance.
Yount swats away the attempt to clinch by Pierno.

Pierno fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Yount manages to avoid it.
Yount looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Pierno closes the distance and clinches.
Yount throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Pierno is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Yount to keep the fight standing.

Pierno ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pierno no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Pierno working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yount doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yount manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Yount postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Pierno looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Yount is defending well. Pierno quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Yount has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Pierno celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
