Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Captain Blackbeard (ranked 5774 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dre Battle (ranked 5677 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Captain Blackbeard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dre Battle!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blackbeard darts in trying to clinch
and Battle counters with a right hand to the body.
Battle connects with a body shot that sends Blackbeard's belly button to the back.

Blackbeard closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Battle's guard.
Blackbeard missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Blackbeard is looking to work some ground and pound but Battle has wrist control.
Blackbeard scoring with some ground and pound.
Blackbeard working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Blackbeard trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Blackbeard throws an elbow that misses. Battle uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Blackbeard's guard. Nice move by Battle!

Battle must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Battle wanted to stand there but Blackbeard had control of the position.

Battle wants to get up but he can't break Blackbeard's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Blackbeard is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Battle is fighting to break Blackbeard's control of his arms but Blackbeard is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Battle has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Blackbeard is proving hard to escape from.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Battle stands up and waves to Blackbeard to follow him.

Battle lands the left hand.
Battle throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Blackbeard on the side of the head.
Battle bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Blackbeard's head backwards.

Battle gets caught flat footed, as Blackbeard shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Blackbeard throws a big elbow that misses.

Battle avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Blackbeard slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Blackbeard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Battle swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blackbeard's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Blackbeard seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Battle for as long as he can get away with.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Blackbeard stands up over Battle, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Blackbeard controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Blackbeard takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Blackbeard on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Battle gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Battle can do anything to dispel that myth.
Blackbeard is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dre Battle will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Blackbeard drives through with a takedown into guard.

Battle is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Blackbeard is working for takedown but Battle is calmly controlling the position for now.
Blackbeard lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Battle gets underhooks to prevent Blackbeard's takedown attempt.
Battle lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Battle misses with a punch to the body.
Battle prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Captain Blackbeard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A left hand lands to the body for Battle.
Battle lands an uppercut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Battle lands a left hand that snaps the head of Blackbeard backwards.

Blackbeard has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Battle regains guard immediately.

Battle wriggles free and stands up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Battle changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Battle tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Blackbeard manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Battle lands an overhand right.
Jab by Battle.
Battle thuds a left hand into Blackbeard's body.

Blackbeard scores with a takedown into Battle's guard.
Battle utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Blackbeard trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Battle bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Blackbeard's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blackbeard looking for a sweep. Not yet Blackbeard, not yet.
Blackbeard is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Blackbeard is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Blackbeard wants to pass the guard but Battle is defending well.

Battle is bucking up trying to escape but Blackbeard cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Blackbeard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Blackbeard pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Blackbeard connects with a bit shot that sees Battle covering up! More strikes from Blackbeard and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Blackbeard is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Captain Blackbeard!
