PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dongsu Kim (ranked 4239 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Blanco (ranked 4003 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dongsu Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alexander Blanco!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim avoids the head kick by Blanco.
Blanco misses with a double jab.
Blanco tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kim manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kim shoots in for a takedown but Blanco shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Blanco steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Kim.

Blanco throws a lazy head kick

and Kim counters by clinching up.
Blanco is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Kim tries to score a body lock takedown but Blanco shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Blanco jumps guard but Kim stands there with Blanco around his waist. Blanco gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Horrible takedown attempt by Kim or perhaps it was just good defense by Blanco, which made it look bad.
Blanco wants to counter the offense by Kim and move into the clinch position.

and Blanco counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Blanco moves in looking to clinch but Kim pushes him off.
Kim seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Kim feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Blanco's calf.

Kim clinches up with Blanco and pushes him back against the cage.

and Kim counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Kim pulls guard effortlessly.
Kim bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Blanco's guard.

Kim slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Blanco.
Kim perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Blanco wants to control but Kim is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kim thows a huge punch but Blanco dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Blanco misses with an attempted mid kick.
Kim shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Blanco but Blanco pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Blanco shoots for a double leg takedown but Kim sprawls well. He's pushed Blanco's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kim shoots in looking for a takedown. Blanco tries to sprawl out of it but Kim keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Blanco manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Blanco wants to counter the offense by Kim and move into the clinch position.

Blanco shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Kim eats them both and turns towards Blanco to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Kim throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Blanco stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kim shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Blanco pinned against the cage. Blanco gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Blanco wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Kim looking for a sweep. Not yet Kim, not yet.
Kim is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Blanco can do to turn this around?

Blanco is looking to take a break and control but Kim is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Dongsu Kim is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Blanco tries to land a leg kick but Kim saw it coming and moves away.
Kim dives in and grabs Blanco's left leg, looking for a takedown. Blanco pushes down on Kim's head and hops out.

Kim gets control of Blanco's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kim will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Kim working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Blanco doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Blanco manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Blanco tries to clinch up but Kim circles away and keeps his distance.

Blanco takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Dongsu Kim overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Blanco is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kim doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Blanco.
Kim is trying to stand up here but Blanco is controlling him well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kim desperately trying to maintain half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kim takes a swing at Blanco's ribcage but misses.
Blanco drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kim defends it well.
Blanco dives in and grabs Kim's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kim pushes down on Blanco's head and hops out.

Kim gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Kim jumps guard and drags Blanco to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kim is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blanco tries to get to full guard but Kim has control of the leg.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dongsu Kim showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kim has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
