PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nicholas Hatfield (ranked 8191 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franco Kennedy (ranked 5895 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nicholas Hatfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Franco Kennedy!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Josh West.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Kennedy.

Kennedy clinches up with Hatfield and pushes him back against the cage.
Hatfield wants to take the fight to the mat but Kennedy manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Stalling in the clinch from Kennedy.
Hatfield is trying to break free.
Hatfield wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kennedy has him pressed against the cage.
Kennedy is pushing Hatfield up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Hatfield is trying to push Kennedy away but Kennedy has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kennedy ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kennedy no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Kennedy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hatfield's guard.

Hatfield wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Hatfield has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hatfield isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kennedy stacks Hatfield on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kennedy!
Hatfield is looking for a sweep.

Kennedy has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Hatfield tries for a takedown but Kennedy circles away easily

and Kennedy counters with a crisp one two that drops Hatfield! Kennedy thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Hatfield to his feet! Hatfield is in big trouble!

Hatfield is rocked!

Kennedy instigates a clinch.
Oh Hatfield is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Kennedy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Kennedy moves into range and clinches up with Hatfield.

Kennedy successfully pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kennedy throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Kennedy had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hatfield defends it easily.

Kennedy has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Hatfield has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kennedy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kennedy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Kennedy closes the distance looking for a takedown. Kennedy picks Hatfield up and slams him brutally to the floor. Hatfield is out! He's out cold! Wow, you don't see a finish like that every day!
