Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dominique Bell (ranked 3684 p4p, 375 weight class) and Dave Brooksbank (ranked 2227 p4p, 246 weight class). Dave Brooksbank has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Dominique Bell's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dominique Bell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dave Brooksbank!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Brooksbank's guard.
Bell won't allow Brooksbank to sweep him here.
Bell forces his way into half guard.

Bell is working for a kimura but Brooksbank is defending it quite comfortably.

Bell is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Bell is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bell sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Brooksbank defending well though.

Bell has gone for a leg lock! Brooksbank slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bell's guard.

Bell controls Brooksbank momentarily but Brooksbank frees himself.

Bell looking for subs off his back but Brooksbank has passed one foot through into half guard.
Brooksbank trying to control from Bell's half guard. Bell has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Bell keeping moving, preventing Brooksbank from controlling successfully.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bell looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Bell working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brooksbank doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brooksbank manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Brooksbank passes Bell's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bell is refusing to be controlled, as Brooksbank sits in half guard.

Brooksbank is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bell is just riding it out for now. Brooksbank eventually gives up the hold.
Bell wants to control but Brooksbank is keeping busy.

Bell looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Brooksbank puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Brooksbank wants to free his trapped foot but Bell is holding on for dear life with his legs.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are battling for position here. Bell manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Brooksbank stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bell swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bell looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Brooksbank has picked Bell up and slammed him! Bell can't keep hold of the triangle and Brooksbank manages to pass to side control!
Brooksbank trying to control the position but Bell is working away.
Bell is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Brooksbank's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Brooksbank is taking a breather. Bell says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Brooksbank wants to take a breather but Bell is having none of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Dominique Bell will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bell tries for a takedown but Brooksbank sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Brooksbank drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bell defends it well.

Bell appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Brooksbank fails to land with a series of punches.

Brooksbank gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bell to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Bell won't enjoy being in this position. Brooksbank looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Bell is tapping - it's over boys! Brooksbank picks up the submission victory!
