Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bennett Ewing (ranked 6023 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremiah David (ranked 5634 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bennett Ewing!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeremiah David!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
David throws a series of punches but Ewing avoids them all with ease.

Ewing gets caught flat footed, as David shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
David engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Ewing trying to control the position.
Ewing seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Ewing not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

David is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
David tries to clinch up but Ewing circles away and keeps his distance.

David changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ewing looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

David is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ewing has escaped the position, nice work there.
David lands a nice forearm strike.
Ewing might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ewing isn't going anywhere.
Ewing is trying to work for a sweep but David has mounted him!

Ewing regains half guard.
Ewing is not content to let David control the position.
Ewing wants to control but David is keeping busy.
David tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
David not doing much here.
David lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

David is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Ewing looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Ewing has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. David is working away from the top position though.
Ewing wants to get back to full guard.
David is figuring out what he wants to do next.
David wants to stand up but Ewing is controlling the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
David tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ewing knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

David is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ewing is just riding it out for now. David eventually gives up the hold.
David is looking to take a break and control but Ewing is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ewing enables David to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ewing manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeremiah David dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


David fails with an attempt to clinch.
David tries to clinch but Ewing is having none of it.
Jeremiah David seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
David tries to close the distance and clinch but Ewing swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

David shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

David wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ewing keeps working.

David looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

David doesn't manage to clinch there - Ewing circles away.

David shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Ewing keeping moving, preventing David from controlling successfully.
David wants to stand but Ewing is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ewing could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ewing pulls David in to control the position.

David tries to free his leg and advance position but Ewing is retaining full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ewing displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

David fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ewing, pushing him back against the cage.
David has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

David is trying to trip Ewing. He has hold of a leg but Ewing is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. David persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ewing has David pulled in close to control his posture.
David wants to control from the top but Ewing keeps moving.
Ewing wants to sweep but no luck.
Ewing is pulling down on David's head to control his posture.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

David closes the distance and clinches.
Ewing tries to pull guard but David won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeremiah David showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

David looking to sit in guard and control but Ewing gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Ewing postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
David wants to sweep here but Ewing controlling him for the moment.
David controls Ewing momentarily but Ewing frees himself.
David is trying to hold Ewing in close to prevent damage but Ewing has managed to pass into half guard.
David moves into full guard.
Ewing is working David over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

David looking for a sweep. Not yet David, not yet.
David trying to keep a closed guard but Ewing is proving a slippery customer.
Ewing loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Ewing fails with a takedown attempt.

David drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Ewing is looking for a sweep.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

David goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ewing rolls with the submission and now he's on top in David's guard! Nice work there by Ewing!
David takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ewing throws an elbow that misses. David uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ewing's guard. Nice move by David!


Ewing looking for a guillotine here but David defends easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jeremiah David comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got David winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
