PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bogdan Uzun (ranked 7439 p4p, 210 weight class) and Pound Land (ranked 8287 p4p, 218 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Uzun might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to "Trogdor the Burninator" by Strong Bad. Land is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Poundland.. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Land throws a leg kick that misses.
Uzun throws a looping overhand right but Land ducks down to avoid it.
Uzun fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Land looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Land misses with a body shot.
Uzun moves out of range of the body kick from Land.
Land misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Land looks to land a right hand but Uzun moved out of range.
Uzun went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Uzun lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Uzun stalks Land and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Land's face. Land staggers backwards, shaken.

It looks like Pound Land has been cut.
Uzun feints and then cracks Land's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Land down.
Uzun misses with a low kick.
Uzun throws a lazy head kick
and Land counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

It looks like Bogdan Uzun has been cut.
Land looks to throw the jab but Uzun is out of range.
Land throws a front kick aimed at Uzun's knee but Uzun avoids it well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Uzun avoids the body shot from Land.
Uzun was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
A cross from Uzun lands.
Bogdan Uzun seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Land lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Uzun throws a lazy right hand but Land sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

and Land counters with a thumping low kick.
Uzun blocks a low kick nicely.
Uzun attempts a counter takedown but Land avoids it well and moves away.
Uzun misses with a body shot.
Uzun swings away with a body shot that misses
and Land counters with a straight right hand.
Land takes a jab right on the kisser.
Uzun tries a head kick but it misses.
Land wants to counter the offense by Uzun and move into the clinch position.
Land looks to throw the jab but Uzun is out of range.

Land gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Land has Uzun pressed against the cage, preventing Uzun from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Uzun avoids the elbow strike from Land, against the cage.
Land gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Land lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Uzun is trying to break the clinch but Land has him pressed against the cage.
Uzun is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Land pushes Uzun back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Bogdan Uzun's cut is getting worse.

Uzun wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Uzun tries to circle away but Land has him pinned against the cage.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Land.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Uzun breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Uzun misses with a right hand
and Land counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Uzun is breathing heavily.
Land jabs Uzun to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Land shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Uzun's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Land accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Land controls from within his opponent's guard.
Land lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Bogdan Uzun's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Uzun working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Land.
Land is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Uzun on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Uzun tries to get out of the position.
Land advances to half guard.
Still in half guard, Land seems content to control.
Land has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Land is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Land is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Uzun!
Uzun knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Land on the ground.
Land sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Uzun is in all sorts of trouble here.
Land takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Uzun really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Uzun wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Land.

Jeez, Bogdan Uzun's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Bogdan Uzun's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

During a confident post fight interview, Pound Land thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
