The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacNamara throws a shot to the body.
Seamus MacNamara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
MacNamara fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
MacNamara stuns Diaz with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Diaz is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A decent looking cross lands there for MacNamara.
Diaz takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
MacNamara dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
MacNamara comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

MacNamara is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
MacNamara is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Diaz postures up in MacNamara's guard and throws a big left but MacNamara blocks it.
Diaz lands a couple of elbows.
Diaz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Diaz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

MacNamara fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Diaz looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Diaz counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for MacNamara!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diaz half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
MacNamara throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Diaz stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
MacNamara has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Seamus MacNamara decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
Nick Diaz was interviewed post fight and said 'Am done with this shit, i cant take this anymore. Stockton everyone!!! and am done with this shit for real. '.
