Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aleksei Marshal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jos Beton!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marshal stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Marshal wants it to stay on the feet.
Marshal looks to throw the jab but Beton is out of range.
Beton tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Marshal swivels and escapes.
It looked like Marshal was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Marshal fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Beton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Marshal but Marshal pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Aleksei Marshal has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jos Beton.
Marshal connects with a solid leg kick.
Marshal lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
A big right from Marshal misses.
A lazy left from Marshal finds it's target.
Marshal throws a lazy right hand but Beton sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Marshal gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Beton to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Beton slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Beton tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Beton works to advance to full mount. Marshal defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Marshal defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Beton.

Beton moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Marshal has worked his arm free - good work by Marshal!
Beton in side control, throwing shots but Marshal defends.
Marshal is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Beton's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Marshal keeping hold of Beton's head, controlling as best he can.
Marshal wants to improve his position but Beton is controlling well.
Marshal has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Beton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Marshal regains full guard. Nicely done.

Marshal is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Beton is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marshal trying to keep a closed guard but Beton is proving a slippery customer.
Beton won't allow Marshal to get back to his feet.
Beton has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Beton advances position into side control!

Beton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Marshal knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Marshal prevents Beton from moving into mount.
Who's going to make the next move?

Beton swings around for an armbar but Marshal sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Beton's guard.

Beton is working an open guard so Marshal takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Beton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Marshal tries to avoid it but Beton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Marshal to the ground. Marshal escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Marshal takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Nice takedown defense from Marshal. No joy for Beton on that attempt.

Beton shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
My spies in Hey Steves Fight Shack inform me that Beton has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Marshal manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Beton keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A nice right hand lands inside from Marshal.
Marshal lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Beton is trying to break free.
Nice body punch from Marshal - that landed with a thud.
Beton looks winded!
Marshal scores with a shot to the side of Beton's head.
Marshal lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Marshal wants to stall.

A nice left hand lands by Marshal.
Marshal tries a body shot but Beton blocks it.
Marshal makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Marshal throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Betons head.
Marshal lands a hook to the side of the head.
Marshal blocks a body shot from Beton.
Marshal misses with a punch to the body.
Beton blocking some punches.
Beton tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Marshal's elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aleksei Marshal dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Marshal enables Beton to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Marshal manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Marshal scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Marshal keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Beton shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Beton takes a jab right on the kisser.
Beton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Aleksei Marshal has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jos Beton.
Marshal scores with a push kick.
Marshal looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Beton steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Marshal. That one must have hurt.
Marshal stuffs the takedown.
Marshal scores with a leg kick.
Marshal looks to land a body kick but Beton moved away.
Marshal fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Beton manages to avoid it.
Jos Beton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Marshal scores with a hook.
Marshal swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Beton keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Marshal.

Beton shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Marshal sprawls well. Marshal wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Beton gets slowly back to his feet.
Beton is breathing heavily.
Marshal slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Marshal throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Beton stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Beton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Marshal sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Beton closes this distance looking for a takedown but Marshal circles away.
Marshal cracks Beton with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
A looping hook to the body misses from Marshal. Beton does a little dance to reset his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Beton.
Aleksei Marshal is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Beton tries for a takedown but Marshal circles away easily
and Marshal counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Marshal rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Beton moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Beton chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Marshal can pounce on him.
Beton ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

A good leg kick by Marshal.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Beton throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marshal's waist but Marshal gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Beton off to one side.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Marshal throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Beton's head.
Marshal connects with an inside leg kick.
Beton is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Marshal stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Beton looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Beton shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Marshal as he avoids it easily.
Nice shot by Marshal.
Marshal lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Beton fails with a takedown attempt.
The fighters circle momentarily. Marshal darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Marshal's jab looks to have found its range, popping Beton under the eye.
Aleksei Marshal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Marshal, as that shot connected.


Beton is rocked!
Marshal listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Beton is still on wobbly legs! Can Marshal finish him?
Beton closes this distance looking for a takedown but Marshal circles away.
Beton takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Aleksei Marshal is winning the standup battle so far.
A slapping leg kick lands for Marshal.
Marshal cracks Beton on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Beton falls backwards against the cage. Marshal follows up with more strikes that drop Beton to his knees. Marshal keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Beton! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Aleksei Marshal!
