Gifford is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gifford gets to his feet. Russell looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Angel Gifford seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Russell wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Gifford manages to pass to side control.
