The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rico throws a sloppy head kick and Ferreira moves out of range easily.
Ferreira throws a low kick but Rico avoids it.

Ferreira closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rico sneaks back into half guard.
Ferreira controlling the pace.
It looks like Ferreira is going to stand back up.
Ferreira is looking to stall here but Rico recovers full guard.

Rico scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Rico dodges the punch combination from Ferreira.

Rico clinches up against the cage.
Ferreira goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Rico wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Ferreira blocks an uppercut.
Rico can't break the clinch.
Ferreira gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

It looks like Wilson Rico has been cut.
Rico misses with a hook from the clinch.
Ferreira tries for a takedown but Rico manages to get underhooks.

Ferreira drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rico pulls his leg out and moves away.
Rico connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Ferreira momentarily.

Ferreira shoots in looking for a takedown. Rico tries to sprawl out of it but Ferreira keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rico manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Rico feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A nice leg kick lands there from Rico.
Rico fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ferreira.
Ferreira stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rico.

Rico shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rico showed some decent athleticism there.

Rico stands up and beckons Ferreira to join him on the feet.

Rico lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

and Rico counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Rico stands up from Ferreira's guard - Rico perhaps looking for a knockout.
Rico tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ferreira swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ferreira stuffs the takedown attempt from Rico. Rico gets slowly back to his feet.
Ferreira shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rico but Rico pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Rico is landing with some decent strikes but Ferreira is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Ferreira tries to hold on but Rico postures up.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rico cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well Rico has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
