The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Work misses with a few strikes there.
Work with a lazy takedown attempt
and Valen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Work goes for a double leg but Valen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Valen continues to drive forward.
Work looks winded!
Work darts in trying to clinch
and Valen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looks like Aaron Work has been cut.
Work moves out of range as Valen strikes.
Work is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Valen with a body shot.
Work tries to close the distance and clinch up but Valen swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sloppy strikes from Valen. Those never looked like landing.
Work lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Valen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Work.
Valen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Valen punishes Work's body with a nice straight punch.
Valen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Valen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Work is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Valen lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Valen lands a right hand that snaps the head of Work backwards.

Valen is leaning against Work and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Valen lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Work.
