PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arron Webster (ranked 25099 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Cappela (ranked 5811 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arron Webster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Juan Cappela!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cappela moves in looking to clinch but Webster pushes him off.
Webster shoots for a double leg takedown but Cappela sprawls well. He's pushed Webster's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Cappela closes the distance and pushes Webster back into the cage.
Webster has Cappela pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Cappela manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Cappela digs a right hand into Webster's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Webster's gas tank.

Cappela breaks the clinch.
Cappela tries to clinch there but Webster circles away.

Webster gets caught napping as Cappela dives in and scores a takedown. Webster manages to retain guard.

Webster pushes Cappela off and scrambles back to his feet.

Webster closes the distance and pushes Cappela back into the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cappela pulls guard effortlessly.
Cappela tries to strike from the bottom.

Cappela is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Cappela wants to sweep but no luck.

Webster wants to stand but Cappela has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cappela is trying to keep Webster in close.

Webster wants to stand but Cappela is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Cappela fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Webster, pushing him back against the cage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Arron Webster's cut is getting worse.

Cappela gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Cappela is fighting to break Webster's control of his arms but Webster is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Cappela in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Cappela postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Webster is pulling down on Cappela's head. It's preventing any offense from Cappela, at least for the moment.
Cappela trying to control the position from guard on top but Webster is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Webster will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Webster is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Cappela should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Cappela stuffs the takedown attempt from Webster. Webster gets slowly back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cappela wants to stand up but Webster manages to regain full guard.
Cappela is fighting to break Webster's control of his arms but Webster is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Webster tries to sprawl but Cappela drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Cappela is keen to just control but Webster is a slippery customer.
Cappela is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Webster is looking to control Cappela's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Webster avoid being mounted?
Cappela tries to pass the half guard into mount. Webster knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cappela is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Webster is not content to let Cappela control the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Cappela tries to stand and escape but Webster actually recovers to full guard.

Webster has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cappela can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Cappela has eaten all the pies!
Webster will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Webster is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Cappela escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Webster gets caught napping as Cappela dives in and scores a takedown. Webster manages to retain guard.
Cappela would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Webster is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Webster not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cappela accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cappela throws a big right hand that misses.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Cappela stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Webster swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Webster thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Cappela throws an elbow that misses. Webster uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cappela's guard. Nice move by Webster!

Webster wants to get up but he can't break Cappela's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cappela uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Cappela feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Webster pushes Cappela off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Cappela shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Webster's guard.

Webster escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cappela gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The strikes coming from Cappela are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Webster manages to get back to half guard.

Cappela is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Webster doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cappela.
Cappela takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cappela is keen to just control but Webster is a slippery customer.
Arron Webster has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Juan Cappela is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Cappela has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
