Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Francisco Marquez (ranked 4177 p4p, 0 weight class) and Salaiman Firouzadeh (ranked 2695 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Francisco Marquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Salaiman Firouzadeh!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marquez scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Firouzadeh bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
You can see the frustration on Marquez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Marquez is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Firouzadeh is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Marquez has escaped the position, nice work there.
Firouzadeh tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marquez being controlled for a moment.

Marquez is looking to reverse the position.
Marquez can't do much from the bottom here.
Marquez defending against the ground and pound.
Firouzadeh tries to move into full mount but can't pass Marquez's legs.
Firouzadeh tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Marquez is trying to escape the position but Firouzadeh is controlling the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Marquez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Firouzadeh wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Marquez wants to control but Firouzadeh postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Firouzadeh takes the fight into the clinch.
Marquez jumps guard but Firouzadeh stands there with Marquez around his waist. Marquez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Firouzadeh wants the takedown. Marquez is fighting it off but Firouzadeh persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Marquez's guard against the cage.
Marquez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Firouzadeh is one step ahead there.
Firouzadeh not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Firouzadeh's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Firouzadeh avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Marquez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Marquez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Firouzadeh.
Firouzadeh landing with the ground and pound.
Marquez is trying to keep Firouzadeh in close.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Firouzadeh controlling from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Firouzadeh postures up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Firouzadeh drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Marquez dives on top into guard.

Marquez is looking to work some ground and pound but Firouzadeh has wrist control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Firouzadeh is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Marquez defends well.
Marquez stops Firouzadeh from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Salaiman Firouzadeh dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Marquez tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Firouzadeh counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Firouzadeh has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Firouzadeh showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Firouzadeh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marquez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Firouzadeh sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Marquez's guard.
Firouzadeh trying to advance position but Marquez counters by regaining guard.

Firouzadeh wants to pass to mount but Marquez is defending the position.

Firouzadeh is looking for a kimura but Marquez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Firouzadeh to get the leverage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Firouzadeh is looking for a kimura but Marquez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Firouzadeh to get the leverage.
Firouzadeh throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Firouzadeh is working for a kimura but Marquez is defending it quite comfortably.

Marquez is trying to maintain the position but Firouzadeh is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Firouzadeh darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Firouzadeh stalling away here and it's allowed Marquez to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Firouzadeh would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Marquez working for a triangle but Firouzadeh defends it easily.
Firouzadeh loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Marquez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Firouzadeh is one step ahead there.
Firouzadeh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marquez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Salaiman Firouzadeh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Marquez fails with an attempt to clinch.

Firouzadeh looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Marquez!
Firouzadeh tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Marquez is looking for a sweep.
Marquez is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marquez regains half guard.

Marquez is defending against the submission attempts here by Firouzadeh.

Firouzadeh content to control rather than advance.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Marquez avoids the strikes from the bottom by Firouzadeh.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Firouzadeh can do anything to dispel that myth.
Marquez wants to stand but Firouzadeh is controlling his arm.
Marquez advances to mount.
Marquez wants to control the pace but Firouzadeh is squirming around nicely.
Marquez won't let Firouzadeh get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Firouzadeh tries to hold on but Marquez postures up.
Firouzadeh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marquez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Firouzadeh is looking to improve his position but Marquez isn't that keen on the idea.
Marquez controlling the position easily from mount.
Firouzadeh is squirming around, avoiding Marquez's attempts to control the action.
Marquez thowing shots but they're missing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Firouzadeh tries to lock up and control but Marquez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Francisco Marquez.
I think Firouzadeh has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
