Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Benton Riggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Grady!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grady throws a combination that misses

and Riggs counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Grady is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Grady is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Riggs seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Grady is working an open guard so Riggs takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Grady bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Riggs has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Grady is trying to keep an underhook but Riggs manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Riggs seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Grady for as long as he can get away with.

Grady wants to lay and pray for a moment but Riggs keeps working.

Grady is just content to waste time from the top position. Riggs takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Riggs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Grady on the ground.
Grady throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Riggs works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Riggs is breathing heavily.
Grady trying to control the position from guard on top but Riggs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Grady rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Riggs moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Riggs blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Riggs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Riggs gets control of Grady's arms and successfully pulls guard. Riggs will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Grady is looking to work some ground and pound but Riggs has wrist control.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Riggs jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Grady walks away with a smile on his face. Riggs gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Grady tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Grady is trying to push Riggs away but Riggs has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Grady can't break the clinch.
Grady is looking to break free of the clinch but Riggs has double underhooks.

Tom Grady is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Grady throws an overhand right that lands on Riggs's shoulder, as Riggs tries to avoid the shot.
Riggs looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Benton Riggs.
