Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Makebono Bowen (ranked 8851 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sara McSlamm (ranked 8943 p4p, 0 weight class). Makebono Bowen has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 44 - 90 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Makebono Bowen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 48 - 28 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sara McSlamm!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bowen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
McSlamm wants to break the clinch but can't.

and McSlamm counters with a nice double leg into guard.
McSlamm stops Bowen from standing up.
McSlamm scoring with punches to the head and body.


It looks like Makebono Bowen has been cut.
McSlamm lands a couple of elbows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McSlamm is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
McSlamm throws a big right hand that misses.
McSlamm won't allow Bowen to get back to his feet.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
McSlamm is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Bowen lands a big head kick that sends McSlamm tumbling to the mat! Bowen takes a step backwards and waves McSlamm back to his feet - he wants the finish!

and McSlamm counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Bowen wants to clinch up but McSlamm keeps it at a distance.
McSlamm changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Bowen drives through and clinches with McSlamm against the cage.
McSlamm tries to circle away but Bowen has him pinned against the cage.
Bowen lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bowen wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McSlamm has him pressed against the cage.

McSlamm drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bowen defends it well.

Bowen throws a sloppy head kick and McSlamm moves out of range easily.
Makebono Bowen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bowen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McSlamm controls the pace.

Bowen has momentary wrist control but McSlamm slips an elbow through the middle.

McSlamm lands a couple of decent looking shots.
McSlamm postures up and lands a big shot to Bowen's brow.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McSlamm stops Bowen from standing up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
McSlamm content to stall in guard here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts McSlamm, as that shot connected.
Bowen walks into a jab.
Bowen tries to clinch but McSlamm moves out of range.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bowen enables McSlamm to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bowen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Bowen wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and McSlamm manages to pass to side control.

Bowen tries to kick McSlamm off but McSlamm keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sara McSlamm will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and McSlamm counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Bowen moves to clinch but McSlamm breaks away

and McSlamm counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bowen is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. McSlamm presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Bowen lands a really nice looking cross but McSlamm seems unphased.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee asks McSlamm politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. McSlamm prefers to stall for the moment though.

McSlamm lands a big shot there that rocks Bowen but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Bowen is in a horrible position here. McSlamm smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
McSlamm has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Bowen's face.

McSlamm lands a big elbow.
Sara McSlamm has got the better of the ground game so far.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bowen is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
McSlamm lands a couple of good shots and Bowen has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - McSlamm has eaten all the pies!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bowen trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
McSlamm biding his time, looking for the opening.
Bowen is trying to get back to his feet but McSlamm has full control of the position and if anything, Bowen has just worked his way into a worse spot.
McSlamm looking to soften up his opponent with punches.

McSlamm lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sara McSlamm showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

McSlamm closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Bowen's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bowen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McSlamm is controlling him.

Bowen wants to get back to his feet but McSlamm is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

McSlamm stands up over Bowen, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
McSlamm cracks Bowen with a solid left hand.

McSlamm is continuing to stall.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bowen wants to stand but McSlamm is controlling the position.

McSlamm sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bowen's guard.
Bowen wants to get back to his feet.

Bowen using the Thai plumb to throw knees but McSlamm has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
McSlamm is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bowen pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Makebono Bowen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sara McSlamm.

McSlamm avoids the head kick by Bowen.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Makebono Bowen.
I think McSlamm has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Sara McSlamm tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
