Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Edwards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Salahdine Parnasse!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, David Hoff and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Edwards gets a clinch.

Edwards breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Edwards clinches up against the cage.
A right handed body shot lands from Edwards.
Edwards is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Parnasse is defending well.
Edwards wants to break the clinch but can't.
Edwards gets underhooks to prevent Parnasse's takedown attempt.
Edwards is trying to drag Parnasse to the mat but Parnasse just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Parnasse wants to break the clinch but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Parnasse drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Edwards gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Edwards goes for a takedown attempt but Parnasse pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Edwards closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Edwards is trying to force a seperation but Parnasse has the dominant position.

Parnasse jumps guard.
Parnasse looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Parnasse is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Edwards defends well.
Edwards is stalling in the full guard.
Edwards pushing down on Parnasse's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Parnasse is looking to control Edwards's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Parnasse avoid being mounted?
Parnasse is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Edwards is staying active.
Edwards takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Edwards is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Edwards looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Parnasse is looking to control Edwards's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Parnasse avoid being mounted?
Edwards trying to control the pace.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Parnasse works his way to full guard. Good work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Edwards stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
No joy there for Parnasse, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Edwards is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Parnasse can do to turn this around?

Parnasse jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Edwards walks away with a smile on his face. Parnasse gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Edwards counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Parnasse thinking.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Parnasse is defended easily by Edwards.

Edwards closes the distance and clinches.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Parnasse is trying to pull guard but Edwards has him pressed against the cage.
Parnasse misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Parnasse tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Parnasse drags the fight down to the ground.
Parnasse preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Edwards wants to stand and escape but instead Parnasse has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Edwards looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Edwards lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Edwards has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Parnasse not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Parnasse is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Edwards is trying to get back to full guard.
Parnasse is looking to take a break and control but Edwards is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Parnasse stalling away here and it's allowed Edwards to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Parnasse escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Edwards gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Edwards won't allow Parnasse to sweep him here.

Edwards got a little sloppy there for a moment and Parnasse has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Edwards has managed to get both his arms back between Parnasse's legs - danger averted.
Parnasse wants to sweep but no luck.

Parnasse working for a triangle but Edwards defends it easily.
Edwards has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Parnasse is proving hard to escape from.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Edwards has managed to clinch.
Parnasse drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Edwards gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Parnasse swings wildly with an uppercut but Edwards uses good head movement to avoid it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Parnasse wants to take the fight to the mat but Edwards manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Edwards breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown attempt by Parnasse or perhaps it was just good defense by Edwards, which made it look bad.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Edwards, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
