Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Taler Guthen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Murs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guthen's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Bei uns in Tirol. Forrest Murs has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Taler Guthen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Forrest Murs!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Murs or perhaps it was just good defense by Guthen which made him look bad.
Murs shoots for a takedown but Guthen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Guthen stuffs the takedown.
Taler Guthen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Forrest Murs.

Guthen gets a clinch.

Guthen ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Guthen no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Murs thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Guthen looking for a guillotine here but Murs defends easily.
Murs tries to free his leg and advance position but Guthen is retaining full guard.

Guthen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Guthen looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Guthen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Well, if Guthen is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Murs won't allow Guthen to pass to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Guthen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Murs's head.

Guthen seems to be working for a kimura but Murs defends the submission attempt.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Guthen wants to free his trapped foot but Murs is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Guthen moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Murs has worked his arm free - good work by Murs!
Murs is trying to get back to half guard.

Guthen swings around for an armbar but Murs sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Guthen's guard.
Murs really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Guthen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Guthen working for a triangle but Murs defends it easily.
Guthen is breathing heavily.
Murs postures up in Guthen's guard and throws a big left but Guthen blocks it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Guthen doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Guthen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Murs gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Guthen is trying to keep Murs in close.
Murs must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Murs is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Murs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Guthen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Guthen is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Murs frees his head nicely. Oh but Guthen has switched to an armbar! Murs is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Taler Guthen!
