With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Frik Van Wyk!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Wyk misses with a takedown attempt

and May decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Van Wyk's guard.
Van Wyk is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

May postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

You get the feeling that May really doesn't like being in this position too much.
May is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Van Wyk with shots to the head and body - May looks very uncomfortable down there.
Van Wyk postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. May looks a forlorn figure.

Let's hope that Van Wyk has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

It looks like Van Wyk might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

May is working Van Wyk over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

May fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Van Wyk, pushing him back against the cage.

Van Wyk tries to pull guard but May holds him up against the cage and eventually Van Wyk drops back down to his feet.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Van Wyk is trying to drag May to the mat but May just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

May is pushing Van Wyk up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

May is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
May will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Van Wyk up against the cage.
