Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zachery Patterson (ranked 24795 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daiki Suki (ranked 4958 p4p, 177 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Patterson gets caught flat footed, as Suki shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Patterson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Suki is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Patterson.
Patterson tries to control but Suki manages to take his back.
Patterson rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Suki tries to pass to full mount but Patterson defends it.
Suki is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Suki is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Patterson sees it coming and defends easily.

Patterson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Suki pulls his head out easily.

Suki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Patterson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Suki wants to work for an arm triangle but Patterson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Patterson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Suki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Suki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Suki seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Suki got a little sloppy there for a moment and Patterson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Suki has managed to get both his arms back between Patterson's legs - danger averted.
Patterson is breathing heavily.

Patterson is working an open guard so Suki takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Suki rushes Patterson and presses him up against the cage.
Patterson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Suki fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Suki manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Patterson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Suki to keep the fight standing.

Suki jumps guard and drags Patterson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Suki holds on and takes a little breather.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Suki can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Suki takes the fight into the clinch.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Patterson lands a couple of digs.
Patterson with a flurry of punches that miss.

Suki is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Patterson is aware though and is defending well.

Suki thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Suki tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Suki has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Suki is striking but Patterson is not phased and passes to half guard.
Suki slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Suki is adopting a defensive guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Patterson distracts Suki with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Suki has an active guard here but Patterson has managed to pass into half guard.
Patterson is just content to waste time from the top position. Suki takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Patterson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Patterson won't allow Suki to sweep him here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Patterson is defended easily by Suki.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Patterson wants to clinch but Suki slips to the side

and Suki counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Patterson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Suki connects with a nice short shot to Patterson's temple.
Suki is looking to pass Patterson's guard but actually Patterson recovers to full guard.
Suki content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Patterson is looking for a triangle but Suki pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daiki Suki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Suki lands a nice hook to Patterson's body. Patterson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Suki lands a huge takedown. Patterson is out but the ref is slow to react and Suki lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Patterson lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
