Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Merel (ranked 2789 p4p, 299 weight class) and DJ Cadillac (ranked 3554 p4p, 354 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Merel might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Laura Tesoro - Higher. Jack Merel has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, DJ Cadillac!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and Chad Campbell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Merel has Cadillac up against the cage in a clinch.
Cadillac throws a punch but it's blocked by Merel.
Cadillac goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Cadillac stalling in the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Cadillac - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Cadillac fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A shot in the inside from Merel.
Merel tries a body shot but Cadillac blocks it.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cadillac has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
A left hand lands to the body for Merel.
Merel misses with a punch on the inside.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Cadillac.
Merel blocks a body shot from Cadillac.
Cadillac tries to work over Merel's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Merel definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Merel misses with a punch on the inside.
Cadillac has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Merel avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Merel lands a body shot.
Cadillac tries to stall but Merel uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Cadillac misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Cadillac blocking some punches.
The referee is keeping an eye on Cadillac - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Merel lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Cadillac backwards.
Cadillac tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Merel lands a hook to the side of the head.

Cadillac is rocked!
Merel creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Cadillac with a big uppercut! Cadillac tries to clinch up but Merel pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Cadillac to the mat! Cadillac covers up and Merel unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

In his post fight interview, Jack Merel started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
