PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kongo Battaby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and mma fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kongo Battaby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, mma fighter!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Battaby looks for a takedown but fighter sprawls well.
fighter lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
fighter circles away from the clinch attempt.
Battaby walks forward, straight into a front kick from fighter.
Kongo Battaby seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Battaby tries to bum rush fighter with a series of wild strikes but fighter uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
fighter keeps the fight on the outside.
fighter dips to his left and cracks Battaby with an uppercut!


It looks like Kongo Battaby has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A combination from fighter does no damage.
Battaby shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts fighter as he jumps to the side.
Battaby drops his hands momentarily and fighter takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Battaby is looking to clinch.
fighter lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Battaby is breathing heavily.
Battaby fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kongo Battaby. That's going to take a lot out of him.
fighter drops Battaby with a beautiful combination! Battaby stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - fighter is looking for the KO!


Kongo Battaby's cut is getting worse.

fighter lands a head kick that stumbles Battaby and the fighters go to the mat.


Kongo Battaby's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Battaby throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
fighter controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Battaby will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
fighter's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
fighter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Battaby. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
fighter wants to control from the top but Battaby keeps moving.
Battaby wants to stand up but fighter is controlling him.
fighter trying to control but Battaby is working from the bottom.
Battaby has a closed guard, preventing fighter from standing up.
fighter sitting in guard here, content to control.

Despite being in the dominant position, mma fighter just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
fighter throws a series of strikes that have Battaby backpedaling.
fighter misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Battaby throws a combination that misses

and fighter counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Battaby down! fighter is looking to finish but Battaby is intelligently defending himself.


Jeez, Kongo Battaby's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
fighter trying to control the position from guard on top but Battaby is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Battaby working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. fighter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. fighter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
fighter wants to control from the top but Battaby keeps moving.
Battaby has a closed guard, preventing fighter from standing up.
fighter's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Let's hope that fighter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Battaby trying to keep a closed guard but fighter is proving a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
fighter loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
fighter stuns Battaby with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Battaby pulls out of a head kick attempt.
fighter throws a sloppy head kick and Battaby moves out of range easily.
fighter darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Kongo Battaby's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). mma fighter!
