Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Danny Rand!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rand throws a head kick but Jo moves out of range.

Rand looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rand prevents Jo from standing back up.
Jo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rand on the ground.
Rand is pressing down on Jo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jo is holding on for now.

Jo is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Rand pulls his head out easily.

Jo wants to control but Rand is keeping busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rand sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Rand looks gassed!
Jo explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rand avoids the head kick by Jo.
Rand takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Jo is looking to slow Rand down with leg kicks.

Jo is looking to clinch but Rand is avoiding it.
Jo lands a nice hook to Rand's body. Rand takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Danny Rand seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jo wants to clinch up but Rand keeps it at a distance.
Rand avoids the head kick by Jo.
Jo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rand swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Joe Jo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jo scores with a nice body kick.
Jo tries to clinch up but Rand circles away and keeps his distance.

Rand moves into range and clinches up with Jo.
Jo tries to land knees in the clinch but Rand avoids the damage to the body.
Jo can't break the clinch.

Rand works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Jo trying to keep a closed guard but Rand is proving a slippery customer.

Jo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rand is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rand's back instead.

Rand looking very determined here, making life difficult for Jo.

Rand manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.
Jo tries to clinch but Rand moves out of range.

Rand closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rand lands with a punch from half guard.
Jo has hold of Rand's hands but Rand slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Rand is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Rand connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Jo wants to hold on but Rand pushes him away.
Rand lands a big shot there that rocks Jo but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rand lands a heavy elbow.

Rand looking to finish Jo with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jo!

Rand looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Rand landing strikes, looking to finish!
Rand is landing with some decent strikes but Jo is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Rand working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Jo looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Rand! Submission of the night perhaps?
