The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hancock takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Hancock tries to clinch but Santos Jr is having none of it.

Hancock drives through and clinches with Santos Jr against the cage.
Santos Jr is trying to push Hancock away but Hancock has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Hancock controlling the action here for a moment.

Hancock jumps guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hancock has his foot on Santos Jr's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Santos Jr works his way back into a safe position though.
Hancock is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hancock looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Santos Jr trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hancock's guard.
Hancock lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Hancock throws a big elbow that misses.
Hancock tries to free his leg and advance position but Santos Jr is retaining full guard.
Hancock is stalling in the full guard.
Hancock trying to control the position from guard on top but Santos Jr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hancock passes Santos Jr's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Santos Jr tries to kick Hancock off in order to stand up. Hancock Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Santos Jr is looking to get back to his feet here but Hancock is keeping cool and he's managed to take Santos Jr's back.

Santos Jr is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Hancock gets his way!

Hancock is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Santos Jr has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hancock just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Santos Jr lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Santos Jr throws a nice head kick!

It looks like John Hancock has been cut.
Santos Jr lands with an uppercut that bounces Hancock off the cage and back into range.
Hancock fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Santos Jr lands a big head kick that sends Hancock tumbling to the mat! Santos Jr takes a step backwards and waves Hancock back to his feet - he wants the finish!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
