PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Brewer (ranked 1749 p4p, 251 weight class) and Chris Severn (ranked 3981 p4p, 507 weight class). Brewer comes to the cage accompanied by Gangster's Paradise. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 16 - 3, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Brewer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 35 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Severn!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brewer doesn't manage to clinch there - Severn circles away.
Brewer is looking to clinch.
Severn scores with a push kick.
Severn uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brewer.

Brewer gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Brewer is fighting off a takedown attempt but Severn is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Brewer to the mat. Brewer regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Brewer wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Severn manages to pass to side control.

Brewer won't allow Severn to pass to mount.
Severn is trying to control. Brewer wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Severn perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Brewer is not content to let Severn control the position.
Severn keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Brewer looks like he's trying to stand up.
Severn wants to take a breather but Brewer is having none of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Severn wants to control the pace but Brewer is squirming around nicely.

Let's hope that Severn has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Severn won't let Brewer get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Severn lands a couple of good shots and Brewer has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Brewer is trying to get back to his feet but Severn has full control of the position and if anything, Brewer has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Severn looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Chris Severn dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Severn creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

The referee is keeping an eye on Brewer - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
A short body shot lands from Brewer as the two fighters clinch.
Severn wants to take the fight to the mat but Brewer manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Severn is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Brewer to keep the fight standing.
Brewer goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Severn goes for a takedown attempt but Brewer pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Severn counters with a stiff right hand.
Brewer tries to clinch up.
Brewer uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Severn.

Brewer misses with a punch to the body.
Severn blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Severn has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Brewer regains guard immediately.
Brewer is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Severn dives into side control.


Severn decides to stand back up. Severn steps back and let's Brewer get back to his feet.

Severn with the counter takedown but Brewer avoids it easily.
Brewer tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Severn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Brewer is looking to stand up but Severn isn't so interested in that idea.

Brewer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Severn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Brewer is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Severn defends well.
Brewer throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Severn gets to his feet. Brewer looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Severn looks to land a body kick but Brewer moved away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Severn avoids a punch combination nicely.
Severn misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Frank Brewer showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Severn has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
