Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Violencia Rivas (ranked 1751 p4p, 209 weight class) and Chad Yonic (ranked 3983 p4p, 384 weight class). Violencia Rivas has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yonic fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Rivas drives through with a takedown into Yonic's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Yonic had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rivas defends it easily.

Yonic manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rivas manages to get himself to full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Yonic accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Yonic felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Rivas slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rivas postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Yonic wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rivas misses with a wild body shot.

Yonic tries to throw a body punch but Rivas avoids it by throwing Yonic back against the cage.

The fighters circle momentarily. Rivas darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Rivas fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Yonic looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Yonic is still on wobbly legs! Can Rivas finish him?
Rivas lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Yonic falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
