PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lester Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Hasselhof (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hasselhof is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Nas - Hate me now. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lester Murphy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David Hasselhof!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy throws a series of punches but Hasselhof avoids them all with ease.
Murphy keeps the fight on the outside.
Murphy lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Murphy stuffs the takedown.

Murphy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hasselhof wants to control but Murphy is keeping busy.

Hasselhof looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Murphy stands up and beckons Hasselhof to join him on the feet.
Murphy takes a swing at Hasselhof's ribcage but misses.

Hasselhof shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Murphy is refusing to be controlled, as Hasselhof sits in half guard.
Murphy manages to get to full guard.
Murphy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

and Hasselhof counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hasselhof stops Murphy from standing up.

Hasselhof is standing up over Murphy. Murphy looks to escape but Hasselhof dives into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Murphy is not content to let Hasselhof control the position.
Murphy tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hasselhof wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hasselhof is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Murphy has escaped the position, nice work there.
Hasselhof wants to control but Murphy is keeping him busy.
Murphy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hasselhof on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Murphy tries to improve position but can't.
Hasselhof controls the position from side control.

Hasselhof is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Murphy knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Murphy is trying to control Hasselhof's posture but Hasselhof avoids it.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Murphy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

I think Hasselhof has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
