Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Amos Romero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Steven Daniells!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Daniells looking to score a takedown here. Romero is defending well but Daniells drives through and ends up in Romero's guard.

Daniells won't allow Romero to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Daniells drops Romero with a beautiful combination! Romero stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Daniells is looking for the KO!

It looks like Amos Romero has been cut.
A head kick misses from Daniells.
Romero fires out a quick counter leg kick but Daniells just manages to avoid it.
Steven Daniells seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Daniells feints and as Romero raises his hands in defense, Daniells changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Oh Romero is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Daniells slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Daniells drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Romero manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Daniells has Romero in his guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Daniells has his foot on Romero's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Romero works his way back into a safe position though.
Romero in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Romero throws a strike but Daniells rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Romero is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Romero is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Daniells is trying to break free.
Romero jumps guard but Daniells stands there with Romero around his waist. Romero gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Daniells content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Daniells wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Romero has him pressed against the cage.
Romero keeps control of Daniells as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Daniells jumps guard and drags Romero to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Romero postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Romero will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Romero has gone for a leg lock! Daniells slips out almost immediately though and dives into Romero's guard.

Romero is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Daniells stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Romero swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Daniells stands up and waves to Romero to follow him.

Daniells shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Daniells misses with the ground and pound.
Daniells throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Romero works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Romero counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Romero has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Daniells has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Daniells tightens his grip and picks Romero up, before dumping him to the ground. Romero manages to land in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Daniells is looking to work some ground and pound but Romero has wrist control.

Romero not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Daniells drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Daniells jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Daniells is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Romero is pulling down on Daniells's head. It's preventing any offense from Daniells, at least for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Amos Romero is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Daniells circles away from the clinch attempt.

Daniells closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Daniells is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Amos Romero will probably get the nod.

Daniells misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Daniells closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Romero did well to prevent Daniells getting side control.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Daniells. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Romero tries to roll over but Daniells keeps him under control.

Daniells misses with an uppercut. Romero saw that one coming.
Romero lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Daniells darts in and clinches Romero up against the cage.
Daniells is looking to break free of the clinch but Romero has double underhooks.
Romero misses with some punches.
Nice body punch from Daniells - that landed with a thud.
Romero jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Daniells walks away with a smile on his face. Romero gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Daniells scores with a decent looking hook.

Daniells shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Romero manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Romero wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Daniells manages to pass to side control.
Daniells takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Daniells seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Romero does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Let's hope that Daniells has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Daniells seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Well Daniells has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
