PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dmitri Zaitsev (ranked 909 p4p, 45 weight class) and Colin McLauhglin (ranked 1492 p4p, 72 weight class). McLauhglin has chosen What the hell are you waiting for as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dmitri Zaitsev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Colin McLauhglin!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McLauhglin drives through with a takedown into Zaitsev's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Zaitsev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McLauhglin's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zaitsev missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Zaitsev connects with a couple of short punches.
McLauhglin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Zaitsev.

McLauhglin has his foot on Zaitsev's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Zaitsev works his way back into a safe position though.
Zaitsev scoring with some ground and pound.

McLauhglin isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Zaitsev stacks McLauhglin on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Zaitsev!
McLauhglin is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
McLauhglin is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Zaitsev is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
McLauhglin is trying to escape the mount.
Zaitsev lands a nice shot to the head.

McLauhglin can't escape the position.
McLauhglin throwing hammer fists to the chest of Zaitsev. What's that going to do exactly?
McLauhglin is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Zaitsev cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zaitsev is landing with some decent strikes but McLauhglin is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
McLauhglin takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
McLauhglin in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Zaitsev blocks McLauhglin's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Zaitsev tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Zaitsev pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
McLauhglin is desperately trying to improve his position but Zaitsev has a good base and remains in mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Zaitsev is in the full mount, landing strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zaitsev raining down shots from the mount!
Zaitsev postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. McLauhglin looks a forlorn figure.


McLauhglin is rocked!
McLauhglin is trying desperately to improve position.
Zaitsev unloading with bombs!
Zaitsev is in the full mount, landing strikes.
McLauhglin working to try and regain half guard.

Zaitsev lands with some strikes.
McLauhglin is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

McLauhglin is in all sorts of trouble here.

McLauhglin is still in real trouble! Can Zaitsev finish him?
Zaitsev is in the full mount, landing strikes.

McLauhglin seems to have recovered his senses.
Zaitsev postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have McLauhglin in real trouble here! The ref calls for McLauhglin to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dmitri Zaitsev!
A relieved looking Dmitri Zaitsev thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
