PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mallador Locke (ranked 4061 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Morgan (ranked 9288 p4p, 0 weight class). Morgan has chosen Sherry Monocle as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mallador Locke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 25 - 0, fighting out of London, Simon Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Locke scores with a crisp jab that stopped Morgan in his tracks.

Locke closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Morgan did well to prevent Locke getting side control.
Locke is thwarting Morgan's attempts to control the position.
Morgan is looking to improve his position.
Locke scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Locke not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Morgan looks like he's trying to stand up.
Locke perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Locke is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Morgan is just riding it out for now. Locke eventually gives up the hold.
Locke is looking to take a break and control but Morgan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Locke throws a strike but Morgan avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Morgan keeping moving, preventing Locke from controlling successfully.

Morgan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Locke is controlling him.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Locke accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Locke chips away with some ground and pound.
Locke will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Morgan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Locke's guard.

Locke lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Locke with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Locke throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Morgan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Locke wants to pass the guard but Morgan is keeping the position.
Morgan looking for a sweep. Not yet Morgan, not yet.
Locke postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Morgan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Locke is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Morgan controls Locke momentarily but Locke frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Locke advances position into side control!
Morgan is looking to regain half guard here but Locke keeps moving and retains side control.
Morgan dodges the ground and pound from Locke.
Morgan wants to control but Locke postures up.
Locke throws a strike aimed at the side of Morgan's head but Morgan avoids it well.

Morgan is looking for a sweep.
Locke scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Morgan to see if he's OK.
Morgan manages to work his way to half guard, despite Locke's best efforts.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Morgan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Locke.
Locke prevents Morgan from improving his position.
Locke is keen to just control but Morgan is a slippery customer.
Locke thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Locke frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Locke sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Locke wants to control the pace but Morgan is squirming around nicely.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Locke ducks under a wild hook from Morgan.
Locke is looking to counter with a body kick.
Locke misses with the combination.
Morgan throws a series of punches but Locke avoids them all with ease.
Morgan throws a sloppy head kick and Locke moves out of range easily.
Locke tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Locke feints and then cracks Morgan's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Morgan down.
Horrible takedown attempt by Locke or perhaps it was just good defense by Morgan, which made it look bad.
Morgan takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Morgan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Locke manages to avoid it.
Locke is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Morgan can do to turn this around?
Locke feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Morgan's calf.

Locke stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Morgan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Morgan is trying to keep Locke in close.
Locke controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Locke postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Locke distracts Morgan with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Morgan is trying to keep Locke in close.
Locke trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Morgan pushes Locke off and scrambles back to his feet.
Morgan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A left lands for Locke.
Morgan tries to bum rush Locke with a series of wild strikes but Locke uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Simon Morgan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Locke throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Morgan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Locke is in Morgan's guard.
Locke wants to control from the top but Morgan keeps moving.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Locke is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Locke is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Locke passes Morgan's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Locke wants to take a breather but Morgan is having none of it.
Locke has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Morgan wants to control but Locke is keeping busy.

Locke looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Morgan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well, if Locke is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Locke is trying to control. Morgan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mallador Locke dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Simon Morgan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Morgan slaps away a takedown attempt from Locke, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Morgan throws a sloppy head kick and Locke moves out of range easily.
Locke fails with the takedown.
Morgan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Locke lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Morgan at a distance.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Locke tries to clinch up but Morgan circles away and keeps his distance.

Locke is trying hard to land a takedown here. Morgan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Despite the aggression on Morgan's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mallador Locke. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Locke jabs Morgan to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Locke doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Locke shoots in and bounces Morgan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Morgan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Locke seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Locke has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Morgan defend it? Locke steps over the head and cranks it - Morgan is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Locke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mallador Locke!
In his post fight interview, Mallador Locke started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Simon Morgan spoke after the fight, saying 'hell of a fight. experienced alot in mma but after my contract expired, i decided my fighting life is over'.
