The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigues tries to close the distance and clinch but gggggggg swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rodrigues looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rodrigues pushes gggggggg off and scrambles back to his feet.

and Rodrigues counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

gggggggg has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rodrigues can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

gggggggg lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rodrigues!

gggggggg can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rodrigues is looking to escape.
Rodrigues's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

gggggggg shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rodrigues pinned against the cage. Rodrigues gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

gggggggg is stalling here. Rodrigues is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! gggggggg seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Rodrigues has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

gggggggg seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rodrigues does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

gggggggg has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rodrigues's face.
