The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jakic lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Pate sprawling to the canvas. Jakic follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Pate hang on?

It looks like Chas Pate has been cut.
Pate trying to control but Jakic postures up.

Jakic is trying to control the action in half guard but Pate is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pate is staying active underneath Jakic, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Jakic throws a nice looking combination but Pate bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Pate is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jakic's half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pate is looking for a kimura but Jakic is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pate to get the leverage.

Pate wants to work for an arm triangle but Jakic is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Pate is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Jakic is looking for a sweep. Pate is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pate is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jakic is just riding it out for now. Pate eventually gives up the hold.

Both fighters circling a little - Jakic finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Jakic moves into range and clinches up with Pate.

Pate's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Pate shoots in for a double leg but Jakic sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jakic throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pate.
Jakic lands a slapping body shot.

Jakic has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jakic has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Pate pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pate goes for a double leg but Jakic avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jakic continues to drive forward.

Pate tries to keep at a distance but Jakic has taken the fight into the clinch.

and Pate counters with a one-two to the body.
Jakic lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Jakic lands a nice hook to Pate's body. Pate takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Nejc Jakic is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jakic throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jakic fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Pate has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Jakic gets a clinch.

Pate breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jakic scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Pate is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Oh Pate is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jakic lands an elbow just above Pate 's eye.

Jakic lands an uppercut, right on the button! Pate tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
