Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Makar Sveizy!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koch drives through with a takedown into Sveizy's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Sveizy wants to stand but Koch is controlling the position.
Koch wants to stand but Sveizy has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Koch stops Sveizy from standing up.
Sveizy controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Koch is looking to work some ground and pound but Sveizy has wrist control.

Koch shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sveizy's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sveizy wants to control but Koch passes easily into half guard.
Koch tries to stand but can't do so whilst Sveizy controls his leg.

Koch lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Sveizy looks winded!

Koch stands up from half guard.

Sveizy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Koch, pushing him back against the cage.

Koch jumps guard and drags Sveizy to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koch is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Sveizy controlling from the top position.
Koch seems keen to control Sveizy's posture.

Koch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Koch has control of Sveizy's left arm, preventing Sveizy from doing any damage.
Sveizy wanted to stand there but Koch had control of the position.
Koch looking for a sweep. Not yet Koch, not yet.
Koch is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Koch throws a body punch but Sveizy moves out of range.
Sveizy fails to land with a series of punches.
Koch appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Koch tries to sprawl but Sveizy drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Sveizy stalling away here and it's allowed Koch to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Koch wants to stand and escape but Sveizy is having none of it.
Koch bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sveizy's guard.


Koch stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Koch instigates a clinch.

Koch works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Koch decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sveizy, up you get!

Sveizy scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Koch pushes Sveizy off and gets back to his feet.
Koch is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sveizy can do to turn this around?

Sveizy wants to stand and escape but instead Koch has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Sveizy has clasped his hands together around Koch's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Koch sneaks out the side door and pushes Sveizy away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
No joy there for Sveizy, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Koch closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sveizy to the mat! Sveizy manages to get full guard.

Koch seems to be working for a kimura but Sveizy defends the submission attempt.
Koch looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Koch decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Sveizy has Koch up against the cage in a clinch.
Sveizy tries to break free but Koch pushes him back against the cage.
Koch lands a knee to the head.
Koch lands a right hand.
Koch using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Sveizy has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Koch pulls guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Sveizy closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Koch's guard.

Koch has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Sveizy has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Sveizy tries to circle away but Koch has him pinned against the cage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Koch lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Koch keeps control of Sveizy as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Sveizy has hold of one of Koch's legs. Koch is fighting the takedown attempt but Sveizy gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Koch wants to sweep here but Sveizy controlling him for the moment.
Koch wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Koch's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee calls for Koch to work.

Sveizy is fighting to break Koch's control of his arms but Koch is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Koch wants to stand but Sveizy is controlling the position.
Koch keeping moving, preventing Sveizy from controlling successfully.

Koch has his feet on Sveizy's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Koch is standing up over Sveizy. Sveizy looks to escape but Koch dives into side control.


Koch is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sveizy is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Koch tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Koch has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sveizy tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Koch presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Sveizy tries to hold on but Koch postures up.
Makar Sveizy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rashad Koch is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Koch, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
