PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Glenn Williamson (ranked 1475 p4p, 176 weight class) and Sherm Davis (ranked 1462 p4p, 174 weight class). Davis is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Raf Rundell Ft. Show Boy - Sweet Cheeks. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sherm Davis!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williamson misses with a hook. Davis ducked under it nicely.

Davis told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Williamson has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Williamson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Davis manages to get himself to full guard.


The fighters are working up against the cage. Davis manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Williamson jumps guard and drags Davis to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

It seemed like Davis was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Williamson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Daviss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Williamson is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Davis throws a hook to the side of Williamson's head but Williamson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Williamson connects with a good right hand that stumbles Davis. Davis circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

A close second round but Sherm Davis will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Davis's corner calls for a 1-2. Davis obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
No joy there for Williamson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Williamson goes for a double leg but Davis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Davis continues to drive forward.
Williamson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Davis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Williamson somewhat.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Glenn Williamson.
Well Williamson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Glenn Williamson decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
