The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sosa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Sosa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Sosa is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Arellanes can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Poor strikes thrown by Sosa there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Sosa prevents Arellanes from getting the reversal.

Sosa has control of Arellanes's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Arellanes regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Arellanes is wriggling around trying to escape.

Sosa wants to finish this one by submission but Arellanes is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Sosa.

Sosa is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Arellanes is surviving well by controlling Sosa's body position as best he can.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Arellanes tries to hold on but Sosa pushes him away.

Sosa moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Arellanes has worked his arm free - good work by Arellanes!

Sosa is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Arellanes has escaped the position, nice work there.

Sosa thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Arellanes tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jaime Sosa dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Arellanes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Sosa counters with a single leg into guard. Arellanes didn't expect that.
Arellanes wants to stand up but Sosa is controlling him.

Arellanes looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Arellanes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sosa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Arellanes pushes a forearm under Sosa's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Sosa is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
