PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Blunt (ranked 5543 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kronos Gracie (ranked 5537 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blunt swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Gracie.
Blunt with a jab.
Blunt connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Gracie momentarily.
Mark Blunt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blunt fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gracie looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Gracie doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Gracie ducks right into an uppercut from Blunt.
Gracie with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Blunt to score with a decent uppercut.
Blunt throws a body shot but no joy.
Gracie fails with the takedown.
Blunt looks to land a right hand but Gracie moved out of range.
Gracie fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
The fighters circling - Blunt throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Blunt misses the shot to the body.
Blunt jabs Gracie right on the nose. Gracie blinks but takes it well.
Blunt throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gracie takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Gracie doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Gracie is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Blunt.
Blunt smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Blunt sprawls well. Blunt wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet.
Mark Blunt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kronos Gracie.
Blunt tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gracie paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Blunt swings for the body but Gracie moves out of range.
Gracie avoids the body shot from Blunt.

Gracie fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Blunt avoids it really well and circles away.
Gracie shoots in but no luck this time.
Blunt ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Blunt changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Blunt scores with a decent looking hook.
Gracie shoots for a takedown but Blunt saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Blunt closes the distance and clinches.
Blunt really is a fat lump.
Blunt lands an uppercut.
Gracie fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Blunt is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Blunt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Blunt feints a jab promting Gracie to slip. Blunt then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Gracie slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

It looks like Kronos Gracie has been cut.

The fighters circling - Blunt throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Blunt throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gracie shoots in and drives through. Blunt sprawls well.
Blunt waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Gracie.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Blunt!
Blunt throws a one two combo.
Gracie takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Blunt looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gracie is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Blunt ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gracie moves away.
Blunt sizes up Gracie with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Gracie has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Blunt finds it's way round the side to connect with Gracie's head.
Blunt is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gracie staying out of range there.

Gracie dives in and grabs Blunt's left leg, looking for a takedown. Blunt pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out.
Blunt throws a body shot but no joy.
Blunt swings and misses with a hook to the body.
And Gracie tries to counter it with a takedown but Blunt pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Blunt moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Blunt throws a series of punches but Gracie moves out of range.
Blunt throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Horrible takedown attempt by Gracie or perhaps it was just good defense by Blunt, which made it look bad.
Gracie takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
A looping hook to the body misses from Blunt. Gracie does a little dance to reset his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Blunt dominated that round.

That's time! Blunt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Blunt swings for the body but Gracie moves out of range.
Blunt is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gracie can do to turn this around?
Gracie steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Blunt.
Gracie is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Blunt works the jab nicely.
Blunt doesn't manage to clinch there - Gracie circles away.
Blunt lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gracie circles away quickly and effectively.
Gracie changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Blunt throws a looping overhand right but Gracie ducks down to avoid it.
Blunt connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Mark Blunt is winning the standup battle so far.
Blunt misses with a double jab.
Gracie drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Blunt defends it well.
Blunt throws a jab when Gracie was well out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Blunt sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gracie somewhat.

Nice body punch from Blunt.
Gracie takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Blunt tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gracie was well out of range. Poor timing from Blunt.
Blunt jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Gracie is trying desperately to land a takedown but Blunt is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Gracie.
Gracie moves forwards but Blunt connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Gracie feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Blunt wants to stand up but Gracie is controlling him.

Gracie stops Blunt from standing up.
Gracie controls from within his opponent's guard.

Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Blunt is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Blunt manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Blunt's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gracie's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Gracie passes into half guard.
Well, if Gracie is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Blunt is trying to stand up here but Gracie is controlling him well.

Gracie is working for a submission of some sort.

Blunt is pushing off trying to get to his feet. Gracie has hold of the leg though and he's dropped back for a heel hook… has he got it?? YES! Blunt is tapping! This fight is all over!
