Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Benton Riggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Ambrose!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ambrose rushes Riggs and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Riggs pulls guard effortlessly.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Ambrose pushing down on Riggs's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Ambrose content to control rather than advance.
Ambrose is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ambrose is trying to control the action in half guard but Riggs is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Ambrose is looking for a kimura but Riggs is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ambrose to get the leverage.

Ambrose wants to pass to mount but Riggs is defending the position.

Ambrose escapes and gets back to his feet.

Ambrose scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Ambrose throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Riggs to regain full guard.

Ambrose stands up from Riggs's guard - Ambrose perhaps looking for a knockout.
Riggs keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Riggs manages to pull guard.
Ambrose trying to control but Riggs is working from the bottom.
Ambrose trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Riggs manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Ambrose has taken the fight to the clinch.

Ambrose breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ambrose tries to score a power double leg takedown but Riggs sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ambrose somewhat.
Riggs feinted with a counter takedown.

Ambrose moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A right handed body shot lands from Ambrose.
Ambrose has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ambrose jumps guard and drags Riggs to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Ambrose is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ambrose is trying to hold Riggs in close to prevent damage but Riggs has managed to pass into half guard.

Ambrose is looking for a sweep. Riggs is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ambrose tries to get to full guard but Riggs has control of the leg.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Riggs throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Riggs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Riggs tries to stand but can't do so whilst Ambrose controls his leg.
Ambrose wants to improve his position but Riggs is controlling well.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Ambrose darts in looking for a takedown but Riggs gets double underhooks and turns Ambrose into the cage.
Ambrose shoots for a takedown but Riggs saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Benton Riggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Ambrose.
Riggs leaves Ambrose with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Riggs swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Riggs misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Ambrose drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Riggs defends it well.

Ambrose shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Riggs is trying to defend but Ambrose finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Ambrose wants to free his trapped foot but Riggs is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Riggs is in a horrible position here. Ambrose smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Riggs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mike Ambrose showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Riggs feints and as Ambrose raises his hands in defense, Riggs changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Ambrose is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Riggs looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Riggs can't break the clinch.
Riggs has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ambrose is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Riggs is trying to break the clinch but Ambrose is controlling him.

Mike Ambrose has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ambrose bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Riggs's guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ambrose content to stall in guard here.

Let's hope that Ambrose has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Ambrose stands up over Riggs, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Riggs can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ambrose controls the pace.

Riggs has his foot on Ambrose's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ambrose works his way back into a safe position though.

Ambrose gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
A head kick misses from Riggs.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ambrose fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Riggs to the ground. Ambrose is now in Riggs's guard.
Ambrose distracts Riggs with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Ambrose landing some decent shots from guard.

Ambrose slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Ambrose trying to control the position but Riggs is working away.

Ambrose stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Ambrose gets the takedown into side control.

Riggs throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Ambrose moves into range and clinches up with Riggs.
Ambrose scores with a hook to the body.
Riggs working hard to break the clinch.

Ambrose tightens his grip and picks Riggs up, before dumping him to the ground. Riggs manages to land in guard.
Ambrose must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ambrose in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Ambrose is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Ambrose is in close to Riggs's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Ambrose with a nice head shot there.

Mike Ambrose comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Ambrose winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
