Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lou Nahtic (ranked 3429 p4p, 284 weight class) and Anton Poirier (ranked 1105 p4p, 121 weight class). Nahtic comes into the arena with Sleeping My Day Away blaring out of the sound system. Poirier has chosen The Chariot - . . . and Shot Each Other as his entrance music. Anton Poirier has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 32 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lou Nahtic!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anton Poirier!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Poirier clinches up against the cage.

Poirier turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Poirier manages to end up in side control.

Nahtic throws Poirier to one side and escapes!
Nahtic has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Poirier has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Nahtic looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

I would just about give that final round to Anton Poirier.
Well Poirier has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
