PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Adlet Mayer (ranked 1529 p4p, 191 weight class) and Big Guns (ranked 653 p4p, 86 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayer wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Big Guns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mayer lands a really nice looking cross but Guns seems unphased.
Mayer bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
It looked like Mayer was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Guns tries a head kick but it misses.
Mayer stalks Guns and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Guns's face. Guns staggers backwards, shaken.
Guns tests Mayer 's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Adlet Mayer has been cut.
Mayer lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Guns at a distance.
Guns loads up on a big right hand but Mayer slips the punch.

Guns lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Guns swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Mayer throws a jab but it's blocked by Guns.

and Guns takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mayer just misses with a punch to the body.
Guns scores with a jab to the jaw.

Adlet Mayer 's cut is getting worse.
Guns looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

and Guns counters with a body kick that stops Mayer in his tracks momentarily.
Guns is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mayer .
Mayer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Guns bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Mayer 's head backwards.
Guns tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mayer looks to score with a jab to the body but Guns is just out of range.
Mayer slips under a jab from Guns.
Guns throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mayer takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
A cross from Guns lands.

Mayer is rocked!

Adlet Mayer 's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Guns drops his hands momentarily and Mayer takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Guns takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Mayer drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Oh Mayer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mayer is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
A chopping leg kick lands by Guns.
Mayer seems to have got his legs back now.
Guns lands a nice looking body shot.

Guns bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Mayer ! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Guns wants to control from the top but Mayer keeps moving.
Guns postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Guns postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Guns throws a big elbow that misses.

Guns pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mayer is keeping the position for now.
Mayer pulls Guns in close to prevent any damage.
Mayer wants to hit a switch here but Guns passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Mayer there!

Guns looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Mayer trying desperately to get to his feet.
Guns thowing shots but they're missing.
Mayer tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Guns looking to control but Mayer is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mayer wants to try and get back to his feet.
Guns controlling from mount.
Mayer wants to control but Guns is having none of it.
Mayer stops Guns from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Mayer is squirming around, avoiding Guns's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Big Guns dominated that round.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Guns tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Guns throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mayer was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Decent striking displayed by Guns there.
Mayer gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Guns connects with a nice looking jab.

Jeez, Adlet Mayer 's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
