PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eusebio Zapata (ranked 2481 p4p, 315 weight class) and Iggy Manley (ranked 2343 p4p, 304 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Manley's choice of entrance music: Born in the USA. The key to victory for Eusebio Zapata has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eusebio Zapata!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Iggy Manley!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manley tries for a takedown but Zapata sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Zapata lands with a shot to the body.
Manley closes this distance looking for a takedown but Zapata circles away.
Manley dives in for a single leg takedown but Zapata sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Eusebio Zapata has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Iggy Manley.

Zapata lands a really nice looking cross but Manley seems unphased.
Zapata misses with a series of wild punches.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Zapata accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Manley bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Zapata's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Manley takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Manley is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Manley gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Manley gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Manley apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Manley closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Manley lands in his opponent's guard.
