PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between MaNaKa Fisheater (ranked 4315 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luiz Carboza (ranked 8415 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, MaNaKa Fisheater!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luiz Carboza!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carboza tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fisheater paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Carboza looks to clinch
and Fisheater cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Fisheater swats away the attempt to clinch by Carboza.
Carboza is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
It looked like Fisheater wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Carboza.
Fisheater slaps away a takedown attempt from Carboza, before circling back to the center of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fisheater scores with a nice right hand.
Fisheater avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carboza throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fisheater's waist but Fisheater gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carboza off to one side.
MaNaKa Fisheater has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luiz Carboza.
Carboza dodges the punch combination from Fisheater.
Carboza darts in trying to clinch
and Fisheater connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Fisheater lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Carboza will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nice takedown defense from Fisheater. No joy for Carboza on that attempt.

Carboza doesn't manage to clinch there - Fisheater circles away.
Fisheater scores with a hook to the body. Carboza takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
A looping hook to the body misses from Fisheater. Carboza does a little dance to reset his feet.
Carboza steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Fisheater.

Fisheater lands a jab to the nose.
Carboza is looking to clinch.
Carboza on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A jab from Fisheater does it's job there.
Fisheater swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Carboza tries to clinch there but Fisheater circles away.

Fisheater drops Carboza with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Carboza looks back up at him and smiles so Fisheater waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Carboza is rocked!
Carboza tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fisheater swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Fisheater connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Carboza shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Carboza takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Carboza is still on wobbly legs! Can Fisheater finish him?
Carboza closes the distance but Fisheater moves to the side
enabling Fisheater to counter with a crisp jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Fisheater drops Carboza with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Carboza looks back up at him and smiles so Fisheater waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Fisheater cracks a nice hook into Carboza's ribs.
Fisheater scores with a shot to the body.
Carboza seems to have recovered his senses.
Carboza looks winded!
Carboza wants to clinch up but Fisheater keeps it at a distance.

and Fisheater counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fisheater rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Carboza moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Fisheater sends Carboza crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Fisheater is motioning to the referee to let Carboza up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Fisheater circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Carboza tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Fisheater wins by KO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). MaNaKa Fisheater!
