PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Second Winger (ranked 6084 p4p, 596 weight class) and Kug Ukg (ranked 4847 p4p, 550 weight class). Kug Ukg told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Second Winger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kug Ukg!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winger scores with a jab.
Ukg throws a body punch but Winger moves out of range.
Winger swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ukg has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Ukg moves forwards but Winger connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Ukg wants to clinch but Winger slips to the side
and Winger cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ukg tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Winger manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Winger cracks Ukg with a right hand to the side of the head.
Ukg tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Winger was well out of range. Poor timing from Ukg.
Ukg swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Winger lands a head shot.
Winger lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Winger avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ukg misses with a few strikes there.
Winger throwing a counter right hand but Ukg manages to avoid it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Winger swats away the attempt to clinch by Ukg.

Winger closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Ukg breaks from the clinch.
Winger cracks a nice hook into Ukg's ribs.
Winger uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Ukg tries to clinch but Winger moves out of range.
Ukg throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice jab there from Winger.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Winger, as that shot connected.
Ukg shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Ukg doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Winger lands a jab to the nose.
Ukg walks into a stiff left hand from Winger.

Ukg is rocked!
Winger lands a right hook to the body.
Ukg is still on wobbly legs! Can Winger finish him?
Ukg drops his hands momentarily. Winger doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Ukg staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Ukg doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Second Winger!
