PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Porter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santiago Munez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Porter comes into the arena with Vicarious by Tool blaring out of the sound system. Munez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bandoleros. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Porter.
Munez throws a series of punches but Porter avoids them all with ease.
Porter has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Porter blocks a jab.
Porter throws a head kick that half lands.
Porter lands with a slapping head kick.
Munez throws a shot from downtown. Porter moves away and avoids it.

Munez drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Munez drops back looking for a leg! Porter is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Porter manages to kick Munez off! Munez jumps back into Porter's guard.

Munez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Porter is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Munez, into his guard.

Munez has his foot on Porter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Porter works his way back into a safe position though.

Porter wants to pass the guard but Munez is keeping the position.
Porter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Munez on the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Munez is on top in guard.

Porter throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

and Munez counters with a series of strikes. Porter will be more careful next time no doubt.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Porter wants to control the position but Munez says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Munez is trying to control the action in half guard but Porter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Munez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Porter doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Munez.

Munez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Porter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Munez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Porter sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Munez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Porter is fending him off so far but Munez persists. Nope, Porter circles away and we're back to standing.

Munez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Porter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Munez is trying to hold Porter in close to prevent damage but Porter has managed to pass into half guard.
